FAQs

What happens in the initial session?

The first session provides an opportunity to meet with me, see where I work, and to ask any questions you may have relating to my work. You will be invited to outline your difficulties so that we can discuss your requirements. If we both feel that you will benefit from our working together, sessions will be planned according to your needs.

If you decide, for whatever reason, that you don’t want to proceed I can give you information on other kinds of help or other practitioners.

What is the cost per session?

The full cost per session is 60 euro, with a discounted rate available for those in reduced circumstances.

Payment is per session.

How long is a session and how often do they take place?

Each session lasts fifty minutes and typically takes place a minimum of once a week.

How long will the therapy last?

The duration of the therapy will vary for each individual based upon your needs. There is no set time frame for therapy as each person is different and each problem is unique. Some therapy can be brief when focusing on an immediate problem and some therapy can be extended when working with deeper issues.

Is confidentiality ensured?

Yes, strict confidentiality is maintained.

I work within the code of ethics of The Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. There are some very rare exceptions to confidentiality (which are discussed in the initial session). For example, if I felt you were a risk to yourself or to others, then I might be ethically required to inform your GP – but I would try to agree this step with you first. In practice, breaking confidentiality is an extremely rare event.

Where are you located?

I work in two locations in Dublin city centre. My therapy rooms are located in North City Centre at 8 Store Street and in South City Centre on 29 Westland Square, Pearse Street. See Map.

What do I do next?

If you wish to get in contact to make an appointment or to discuss any other questions, please feel free to get in contact by any of the means listed on my Contact Page.

Typically an initial 50 minute session is arranged in which you discuss your issue and, if we decide to work together, we would then arrange regular, weekly sessions.
